Don't Bother Calling

Do-do-do-do do-do-do-do
Do-do-do-do do-do-do-do

Don't you bother calling I won't be home
Don't you bother calling, 'cos I'll be on the road
Don't you bother calling, I won't be there
Don't you bother calling, 'cos I'm going on the road

Chorus:
I'm going to be, gone for a while
I'm going to be, riding on my own
With nobody to bother me.

I'll go wherever, anywhere I please
Nobody's telling me where or when to go
I'll be taking an open road, who cares where it leads
So don't you bother calling, don't be calling me.

A mountain or a valley right in front of me
Then a river or a stream, or a forest or a tree
It's not what's ahead, that matters most to me
It's knowing that I'm roaming, and nobody calling me!

So don't you bother calling, I won't be home
Don't you bother calling, 'cos I'll be on the road.
Don't you bother calling, I won't be there
Don't you bother calling, 'cos I'm going on the road

Don't Bother Calling was born of sheer jealousy when a friend e-mailed saying he was going on a bike trip, riding from USA into Canada, and he sent pictures of the most amazingly beautiful scenery. I haven't had a holiday in 2 years!

My work requires me to be available on the phone 24/7. This song is me imagining what my ideal holiday would be like, and all I could think of was the sheer bliss if I didn't have to answer the damnned phone!

Musician's notes

It's a simple Country song, no great musical gymnastics involved :)

The guitar solo is actually 2 guitars (a Strat and a Tele) playing, so don't be running off to Albert Lee......
